Franklin D10 restore

A 1981 Franklin D10 refinished with wood veneer restored and turned back to the original black formica finish.
The wood had some damage to it and the trim strips had started to come off.

The endplates, trim strips and changers has been removed. It does not look much like a steel guitar anymore...

All hardware removed.
Time to remove the old veneer.
It comes off quite easy when heated.

The cabinet is sanded and it is time to put on the new formica.
Here the top deck has been glued on, and the hole for the changer has been routed.

The old glue is cleaned off and the necks have been polished to a mirror shine!

The formica is on.
(Black for that perfect sound!)
So are the changers and keyheads.
Notice the shaft mounted to the keyhead and bolted on to the top deck of the E9 neck. A Franklin speciality.

The necks and pickups are back in place and the trim strips are being glued.

Ready for some rodding!

Done!
A brand new old guitar!
Ready for it's new career in the UK.
